10+ Places you haven’t thought to take the kids these Winter School Holidays

Do you want to do something different these school holidays?  Are  you looking for something that you and the kids will like?  These following are places you may not of thought of visiting.  I always like going somewhere different, hope you do too. 

 

  1. Explore Bare Island

Every Sunday except the first Sunday of the month 1.30, 2.30 and 3.30pm

Located in Botany Bay National Park, La Perouse.Discover the history, take a picnic lunch and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere.

 

2. West’s Leagues Club Disco

Wests Kids Disco is back!  Keep the kids entertained these school holidays!
Held in the Wests Leagues Club Auditoirum.  Tickets are $5 per child and includes games, dancing, singing and lucky prizes to be given away!  Children must be accompanied by an adult.

3. Visit Captain Cooks Landing Place

Discover the history of where Captain Cook first landed in Australia, take a picnic lunch, go for a walk and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere.Located in Botany Bay National Park, Kurnell

 

4.  Go for a bushwalk – Royal National Park

A day trip to Royal National Park in Sydney's south, will offer plenty of opportunities for barbecues, fishing, bushwalking, birdwatching and whale watching. Enjoy a day trip to Bundeena or picnic at Audley or any one of the many beaches or go for a bushwalk.

 

Winter is a great time to tackle the popular Coast track from Bundeena to Otford. Not only will you be greeted by spectacular coastal scenery, you can also see whales from the cliffs (June to August). Complete the walk in small sections or undertake the entire 26km over two days. Head along the Coast track or the Curra Moors Loop track or walk to Wises track to see them in bloom.

 

5.  NSW Sports and Rec Family Camps and Kids Camps

NSW sports and Rec offers camps for kids or camps for the whole family at various locations including Myuna Bay, Hawksbury fishing camps and weekend family snow trips.

6.  Go to a show – Bugs Bunny at the Opera House

There are a great selection of shows around for kids during the Winter School holidays.  July 13th & 14th | Sydney Opera House.

The fairies are currently touring with concerts in the July school holidays in Penrith, Newtown, Wollongong, Cronulla and Mittagong.  With Harmony, Rhapsody, Barnaby, Elf, Wizzy and Clickety Clock (and over 19 amazing songs and a great story line) this will be the best show to introduce your child to the world of live performances.

14. Visit Elizabeth Farm, Parramatta

Step back in time at John and Elizabeth Macarthurs home.  It was 120 hectares but has been reduced to less than one.  The site is now perfect for a family day out; once you’ve  explored the house, you  can borrow a picnic blanket and relax in the sun. Bring a picnic from home or there’s also a tearoom that serves snacks and drinks.

Take a family tour of Elizabeth Farm to unlock the stories of this historic farmstead. Go back in time and be a convict servant for the Macarthurs or do the washing just as they did in the 1800s. Afterwards explore the house and abundant garden at your own leisure.
